Designers Dream Weekend

Happy Friday dear Blog Friends,

There are lots of exciting things happening this weekend for me.  Tomorrow I am headed to Blogpodium Canada’s Conference for Design and Lifestyle Bloggers.  It is a series of ongoing conferences and small workshops designed to connect people together, encourage collaboration and sharing, and of course, have a great time.  I love seeing old blogger friends that I don’t get to see very often, and of course meeting new ones!

Besides meeting up with some amazing design and lifestyle bloggers, Sarah Richardson is the Keynote speaker tomorrow.

Her new show launched yesterday on HGTV Canada — its called Real Potential and airs Thursday nights.  Sarah is also launching a new fabric line with Kravet — one  of the fabric suppliers I use with my clients.  Below is clip from her new show.

Then on Sunday I am on stage at the Ideal Home Show in Hamilton.  I will speaking at 3pm on my top 3 Fall/Winter Decorating Trends.

Also from noon until 2:30 I will be at the Free Pro-Advice Pavillion.  At the Free Pro Advice Pavilion, you will have one on one session with professionals in the field of interior design, real estate, and organizational designer and home contractors. You can bring in your pictures, fabrics, inspiration boards and napkin drawings and you will leave with priceless ideas and sketches from the pros.  So if you have a design dilemna, then pop on by and hopefully one of us design pros can help you out.

And one last thing,  I wanted to announce the winner of the PosterJack giveaway that I blogged about on Easy Dorm Room Art Ideas.  The Winning comment was from Sheila Zeller.  Congratulations Sheila — I will email you the promo code to use on their website.

So what plans do you have for the weekend?  Maybe I will see you at Blogpodium or the Ideal Home Show!!  Have a super weekend!

Glamorously yours,

Christine xoxo

Sarah’s House is Back!!!!

A new season of Sarah’s House begins on Tuesday, October 18th!!  I had a chance to walk through the house that Sarah and Tommy transformed…and it was absolutely stunning!!

image

Also, Sarah Richardson is seeking lucky homeowners for Season 2 of Sarah 101.  Check out the details below:

Ever dreamed of inviting Sarah into your home and having her re-imagine a room in her signature style? Well, this just might be your chance! Sarah is currently seeking spaces in need of a high style makeover for her hit series, Sarah 101. Is this your dream come true? Here’s how it works:

  • We are seeking motivated individuals who will receive a decorating/design makeover from HGTV’s top design talent, Sarah Richardson and her partner in design, Tommy Smythe.
  • Each makeover will have an approximate value of $10,000 in product and over $15,000 in design services, and will be conducted in a short period of time depending on the scope of work (approx. 2-4 weeks).
  • We are seeking dramatic “befores” as the backdrop for magazine-worthy “afters.”
  • We are looking for adventurous, excited homeowners (or renters with permission from the landlord) who are willing to open their door and invite in one of Canada’s best design teams to treat their home as a blank canvas.
  • We are seeking interesting spaces with loads of character and “great bones”, which can be transformed through re-decoration or light renovation (no extensive structural work), and homeowners willing to share their design adventure on camera.
  • The team will consider your taste and style notes when designing your room, but you may not be consulted on the actual plan or design, so being a fan of Sarah’s style is imperative. Visit www.hgtv.ca/sarah101 to see the spaces transformed in Season 1.
  • The television production will contribute a retail value of $10,000 to your project, and any expenses above the allowed budget will be the responsibility of the homeowner.
  • The TV crew needs to have full, unsupervised access to the room throughout the duration of the project and full co-operation of the homeowner.

Interested? Please fill out an application form at http://www1.primevista.com/submissions/casting-call. We look forward to receiving your application – and don’t forget to attach the pictures! We appreciate all applications but only suitable candidates will be contacted. No phone calls please.

Enjoy!!

Sarah 101: Boho Chic in Simone’s girls’ bedrooms

It’s that time again!!!  Did you catch the latest episode of Sarah 101 decorating the bedrooms of 3 little sisters!!  OMG…I just love decorating little girls’ rooms and it’s probably because I have 2 little glamour girls of my own.

Love what Sarah and Tommy did with the colour scheme of the 2 bedrooms:  Corals, blues and yellow for the nursery AND blues and greens for the bedroom shared by the 2 older sisters.  Absolutely adorable.

Here’s a peak of the 2 rooms if you missed this episode:

Utterly delightful!!  In the next 2 months I will be updating the rooms of my  2 little girls and can’t wait to share the progress with you.  We are true girly girls in my house and the east wing of our house is called “The Pink Wing” – and that includes a pink laundry room.  So stay tuned!!

If your child’s room is craving some glamour, then contact me online or in person!  I’d love to help!

One of my favourite attractions this year at the IDS was Sibling Revelry!  With a focus on family ties, SIBLING REVELRY challenges four of Canada’s most creative siblings to partner in transforming 600 sq. ft. of space into their own unique statement of design.

Sarah 101: Episode 4 and a crazy week for me!!

Hi Everyone,  did you catch episode 4 of Sarah 101 where Sarah and Tommy decorated Andrew’s bedroom in a loft setting.  I must say, besides purple I do love the colour blue because you can create a multitude of different moods for each room depending how you use it with other colour combinations.  This bedroom definitely has energy to it with the splashes of red and floral pattern in the headboard.

So we are 1/3 into Sarah 101….how are you liking it so far?  Does it compare to Sarah’s House or Design Inc.  Would love to hear your thoughts.

Then on Thursday night is the Gala Event for the IDS11 (rubbing shoulders with design celebrities I hope Flirt female) and a wonderful dinner with around 20 talented women in the design industry….oh and a few men sprinkled in there as well.  And believe it or not, most of us all met via Twitter and/or Facebook!!  I just love the power of social media….don’t you?

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE IDS OPENING NIGHT PARTY

And then Friday I am going to squeeze in some time at the IDS11 for Trade Day but then have to head to a secret location for a new project that I have been asked to contribute to.  Can’t tell you yet…but soon…..very soon!!

Getting ready for the launch of Sarah 101!!!

Hope everyone had a very glamorous new years celebration….but now it is time to revel in 2011!!!  And I can’t wait because a ton of new design shows are starting this month and one of them is Sarah Richardson’s new show “Sarah 101.”

Here is quick description of her new show:

Sarah 101 is a back-to-basics crash course in design that breaks every project into simple building blocks and showcases Sarah Richardson’s signature approach of tips and tricks to solve design problems so that you too can transform any room in your home! Watch the premier Tuesday January 4th at 9:00pm ET on HGTV CANADA!

Last month, I had the utmost honour to be one of a few Canadian Design Bloggers asked to a group interview with Sarah and her faithful design side-kick, Tommy Smythe.

Below is the group of design bloggers…you’ll notice some familiar faces:  Vanessa from Decor Happy, Jen from Rambling Reno, Staci Edwards from Staci Edwards Blog, Vitania from Verdigris Vie Blog and Renee from eatliveshop blog.

group2

But wait….someone is missing…..who can it be?????

group1

Good ole Tommy….he is a total hoot!!! And he is exactly the same in real life as he is on the show.

So here are some completely random fun facts about Sarah and Tommy:

  1. Sarah and Tommy can literally finish each other’s sentences….that’s how well they know each other.  The dynamics you see between the 2 of them on camera is exactly the same in real life!
  2. You’ll see a totally different side to Tommy on Sarah 101.  Sarah affectionately called it “the cheapification of Tommy”!!  There’s no splurging on this show for Tommy.  They worked within a tight budget of $10,000 for each project.
  3. Lindsay (who you may remember as the design intern on Design Inc. – but who now is a full fledged designer on the team) has the world’s loudest sneeze….as we all witnessed.
  4. Sarah has a ton more ideas for TV shows….so expect a lot more innovative design shows in the future with Sarah & Tommy.
  5. Sarah & Tommy are currently filming season 4 of Sarah’s House – launching Fall 2011.  AND, Sarah spilled there will most likely be a 5th season also, along with a season 2 of Sarah 101!!  Whoooo Hoooo!
  6. There are 11 children amongst the 4 female designers in the firm resulting in a lot of TMI shared.  Tommy claimed he could easily do the job of  an OBYGN….in case the design thing-a-ma-jiggy doesn’t work out!!  Winking smile

OK…let’s get to more pics of the famous offices of Sarah Richardson Design – officially redesigned on Design Inc.

IMG_5181

The ‘waiting room” for clients….gorgeous chandelier.  And there is always fresh flowers at the window.

IMG_5182

If you are terrible at styling shelves….than memorize this picture and the next one.  Now this is how you accessorize & style a bookshelf!!! Thumbs up

IMG_5183

And of course, almost every piece of furniture in this office is from Sarah’s collection!!

IMG_5184

I absolutely adore the colour scheme of the SR offices…..soothing but OH SO GLAM!!!!

IMG_5185

IMG_5186

Sarah sharing a chuckle with Lindsay…that’s Sarah’s office in the foreground.

This is the ultra glamorous ‘mini’ boardroom.  When we arrived for the Blogger Q&A, Sarah & Tommy were being interviewed by HGTV.

inspirboard

I have a vision board in my office…but it is not as chic as this one….hmmmmmmm…my wheels are turning.  A 2011 DIY project coming on I think!!!  Light bulb

[kitchen3.jpg]

Ohhhh, and they had tons of healthy and not so healthy yummy treats waiting for us.  I could soooo work there with that beautiful kitchen just beckoning me!!!  How many times have we seen Tommy and Sarah going through fabric swatches on that very island.  It was totally surreal being there!  Yes, I am totally gushing!!

The Dynamic Duo….gorgeous on camera and off!!

group3

Thanks Tommy for letting me sit on your knee!!!!  Send a kiss

I also got the chance to preview one of the shows that will be airing this month and you are going to love it!!!    So don’t forget:  Sarah 101 premiere show airs tomorrow or today (depending on when you are reading this) on HGTV Canada at 9pm.  And then stay tuned for a brand new show premiering immediately afterwards called Design DNA (9:30pm).

“Design DNA is an exciting new series that puts a twist on the traditional biography:  in this show, the hero may be a gadget, a chair, or an appliance.”

My apologies for such a long blog posting…but I was just very excited writing this post!!

Thanks for staying till the end!!  xoxo
