My March Photo with Posterjack — #12PrintsProject

Hey there,

I kind of abandoned my little blog the last 4 weeks with everything going on with family health issues but today I am back to show you my March photo pick for my year long #12PrintsProject partnership with Posterjack.

Last month my family headed to Hawaii for March break and had the most fabulous 10 days ever!  We stayed at the Aulani Disney Resort on the island of Oahua…..and I highly recommend visiting this Hawaiian island and the resort.

Between my husband and I we took over 1000 pictures with our canon and Iphone cameras… you can imagine the difficulty we had choosing which photo to use for my March Posterjack blog post.

We could have gone with this gorgeous sunset image taken from the resort or this beautiful shot of palm trees, sunshine and water at the Aulani beach.

But ultimately we chose this shot of the 2 girls running on the beach being chased by waves.  It was taken at the North Shore on the exact beach that Oceanic Flight 815 crashed on season 1 of the show LOST.   Which was kinda eerie but really cool!

We love this picture of the girls because of their utter abandonment and the joy on their faces running through the waves and how gorgeous the ocean looks behind them.  It really was a perfect day.

I chose to get it printed on a large canvas to hang over our new fireplace and I am so thrilled with the result.

Aulani Disney Resort – perfect family vacation

The sun is out, the days are getting longer and March Break is just around the corner.  In 2 days my family and I will be getting on a plane and heading to Hawaii!!!  I’m so excited I can’t sit still as I write this.  Since we are Disney Vacation Club Members, (DVC) we are staying at the Aulani Disney Resort — voted #1  in Travel + Leisure‘s World’s Best Awards 2014 for Top Family Hotel in the U.S.A, Aulani celebrates Hawaiian culture, history and traditions.

Below are some images that I got from the Aulani Resort website just to give you a sneak peek to what we will be experiencing for the next 8 days!

The resort looks magnificent!  Aulani is located in beautiful, relaxing Ko Olina, nestled between lush green mountains and the deep blue sea.  This breathtaking beachfront escape is a peaceful, tranquil oasis — far enough from all the crowds, but close enough to enjoy all the wonders of O’ahu.

One of those rooms is a Deluxe Studio with an ocean view waiting for the Da Costa-Seaton family!

Can’t wait to sit by the pool and go snorkeling with the girls at Rainbow Reef – the only private snorkeling lagoon on O’ahu.

Aulani - poolside.jpg

And then of course, there is the beach and that beautiful blue ocean.  Who knows…..maybe I’ll even try a surfing lesson!

Aulani - beachside.jpg

Looking forward to trying some authentic Hawaiian island cooking at the resort restaurants – specifically ‘AMA’AMA and Makahiki.

And then of course there is the night-time entertainment.  Excited to get a lesson in how to hula dance.

I am going to try to blog while I am in Hawaii with my Ipad — all pictures will be taken from my Iphone — so you can experience my vacation real time….if the post looks a little wonky or the images aren’t centered it’s because I am posting from the WordPress app.

I hope you and your families are also doing something fun for march break.  If not, then please visit here to see some of my Aulani blog posts.  I will be posting all my vacation pictures as they happen to Instagram so if you don’ follow me….then click here.

Maholo (that means thank you) and see you soon!!

By the time you read this post tomorrow I will be on a plane heading to Las Vegas as part of #BlogTourVegas with Modenus!  And believe it or not, I am a Las Vegas virgin…..I have never been, and so I am really excited about seeing what everyone is talking about.  However, this trip is not about hitting up the casinos….it’s all about discovering all the fabulous Kitchen & Bath Design Trends that will be shown at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS).  And a few cocktails here and there!

All of the attendees for #BlogtourVegas 2014 will be staying at the super sexy Cosmopolitan Hotel.  My husband has stayed there and he says it is fabulous and you can almost see the entire Vegas strip from its location!  I’m thinking cocktails by the pool is a for-sure thing!!

I am there from Feb 2 – 6th and it is a jam-packed itinerary.  And to kick it off we will be participating in the first ever Modenus Talks — A series of talks and fun challenges around subjects like business of design, design trends, technology in design and design that makes a difference.  I am looking forward t hearing and learning from other design experts during this interactive afternoon of talking.

We will of course be meeting with all the wonderful sponsors of #BlogTourVegas and getting a sneak peek into whats new within the kitchen and bath industry.

Here’s just a sneak peek at some of the fabulous products from a few of the sponsors:

From BLANCO – cutting edge sinks & faucets

From Formica who make laminate counter tops.  Who knew that laminate could look this sexy – WOW!

TOTO  has luxury bathroom fixtures and fittings

These are just a few of the many sponsors I will be blogging about in the next couple of weeks.  Oh and did I mention that there would be a lot of cocktail parties to attend.  Can’t go to Vegas and NOT have a cocktail or two.  😆

I’m sure my feet will be killing  me by Thursday when I arrive back home but it will have been all worth it….I can predict that right now.  So stay tuned for some short & sweet blog posts in the next few days highlighting what I’ve seen so far in pictures!!   And follow me on instagram where you can see my #blogtourvegas pics in real time!!

See you soon!!

2014 is Year of the Horse

Chinese New Year:  2014 is Year of the Horse

Happy Chinese New Year!!  January 31st officially starts the Year of the Horse.

This is what you can expect for Year of the Horse:

Welcome to the Year of the Horse, a very special sign in its own right. The Horse has a connection with Tai Yang (Chinese for sun) as well as Yang, or male energy, one of the two primal forces of the universe. Of the five elements, Wood is the most favorable for the Horse, and 2014 is also a Wood year. This is good for luck in general. So go ahead and take chances. The time is right. However, the Year of the Horse emphasizes thinking things through before you take action — no leaping before you look. This year, there are plenty of areas that hold great opportunities, including (but not limited to) travel, the great outdoors, fitness and your social life.

Generally, that sounds pretty promising.  I happen to be born in the year of the Horse, so although its my year, apparently it will be filled with ups and downs.   Oh well, every year is full of highs and lows.  I definitely have some travel coming up –  Las Vegas next week and Florida in March. I guess we all just have to be a bit cautious…no jumping off the cliff unless you know there is a safe place to land this year.  If you don’t know what animal you are — Tiger, Pig, Rat, etc in Chinese astrology then click here to discover what this year holds for your animal sign.

And of course, the new year wouldn’t be complete without a new Polyvore set in honour of the Year of the Horse!!  Enjoy!

Christmas Inspiration Days 7–14: Christmas Trees from around the world!!

Hi, with Christmas just around the corner, I have been super crazy busy getting ready for the holidays and trying to tie up some loose ends with design clients this past week.  And I am pretty sure you would say the same thing back to me.

So below is a gorgeous tree for every day that I missed since my last Christmas Inspiration blog post !  Hope you enjoy these Christmas trees from around the world.  Some of these trees are utterly amazing and creative. So it’s nice to take just a little break from all the hoopla, and just sit back and take in the magic of Christmas.

The Capitol Christmas tree in Washington , D.C. , is decorated with 3,000 ornaments that are the handiwork of U.S. schoolchildren. Encircling evergreens in the ‘Pathway of Peace’ represent the 50 U.S. states.

The world’s largest Christmas tree display rises up the slopes of Monte Ingino outside of Gubbio, in Italy ‘s Umbria region. Composed of about 500 lights connected by 40,000 feet of wire, the ‘tree’ is a modern marvel for an ancient city

A Christmas tree befitting Tokyo ‘s night-time neon display is projected onto the exterior of the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka.

Illuminating the Gothic facades of Prague’s Old Town Square, and casting its glow over the manger display of the famous Christmas market, is a grand tree cut in the Sumava mountains in the southern Czech Republic.

Venice ‘s Murano Island renowned throughout the world for its quality glasswork is home to the tallest glass tree in the world. Sculpted by master glass blower Simone Cenedese, the artistic Christmas tree is a modern reflection of the holiday season.

Moscow celebrates Christmas according to the Russian Orthodox calendar on Jan. 7. For weeks beforehand, the city is alive with festivities in anticipation of Father Frost’s arrival on his magical troika with the Snow Maiden. He and his helper deliver gifts under the New Year tree, or yolka, which is traditionally a fir.

The largest Christmas tree in Europe (more than 230 feet tall) can be found in the Praca do Comercio in Lisbon , Portugal . Thousands of lights adorn the tree, adding to the special enchantment of the city during the holiday season.

‘Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree’: Even in its humblest attire, aglow beside a tiny chapel in Germany ‘s Karwendel mountains, a Christmas tree is a wondrous sight.

Ooh la la Galeries Lafayette! In Paris , even the Christmas trees are chic. With its monumental, baroque dome, plus 10 stories of lights and high fashion, it’s no surprise this show-stopping department store draws more visitors than the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower

In addition to the Vatican ‘s heavenly evergreen, St. Peter’s Square in Rome hosts a larger-than-life nativity scene in front of the obelisk.

The Christmas tree that greets revelers at the Puerta del Sol is dressed for a party. Madrid ‘s two-week celebration makes millionaires along with merrymakers. On Dec. 22, a lucky citizen will win El Gordo (the fat one), the world’s biggest lottery.

A token of gratitude for Britain ‘s aid during World War II, the Christmas tree in London ‘s Trafalgar Square has been the annual gift of the people of Norway since 1947.

Drink a glass of gluhwein from the holiday market at the Romer, Frankfurt ‘s city hall since 1405 and enjoy a taste of Christmas past

Against a backdrop of tall, shadowy firs, a rainbow trio of Christmas trees lights up the night (location unknown).

Deep sigh. Ok, 10 more days!!!  Back to panic mode.  Gotta go!!!

Glamorously yours,

Christine xoxo
