Project Orange & Pink: Homework Room Vision Board

If you read my 2012 personal decorating project list in my Jan 4th post (click here to read it) then you know that I am converting my daughters’ playroom into a homework room.

I’m just finishing up the layout and elevations but I wanted to show you my vision board for the homework room that I designed on Olioboard.

image

The colour palette is orange and pink and this gorgeous contemporary floral wallpaper is the inspiration for the room!

image

The wallpaper is from  Printers Guild Productions.  My 2 girls have given me the go ahead so I will be purchasing this stunner next week!!

Most of the furniture will be coming from IKEA and if you want to see the list of furniture for the homework room, just click on my Olioboard here for the details.  I want to keep this room on a tight budget but my one splurge will be the wallpaper!!

I’m getting really excited about this room….can’t wait to show you some little surprises I have in store.  Until then, Happy Decorating!!

If you want to know how to decorate your home for 2012, then contact me online or via twitter…I’d love to help!

Glamorously yours,

Christine xoxo

BTW:  This vision board is the first one I have completed and then published on Olioboard.  If creating vision boards for rooms is something you think you would enjoy doing then head over to their site and register your profile.  And I warn you…it can get addictive!!

Christmas Inspiration Day 6: Shopping at West Elm

Wednesday night was the annual shopping event held at West Elm and  sponsored by Style at Home Magazine.  And once again, it was a fabulous night of shopping and networking with other design bloggers.  I brought a client/friend of mine and trust me we shopped till we dropped!!

Unfortunately I didn’t get to take any pictures because one hand was holding a glass of wine while the other was juggling an assortment of amazing home accessories from West Elm!!

So instead I thought I would show you some of the items we purchased yesterday along with some cool Christmas decorations you can purchase at the store or online.  Thankfully they ship right across Canada!!

image

Adorable nutcrackers and elves.

image

Love these double glass ornaments!!

image

If I wasn’t going all glitz and glamour this year again, I would definitely go with this natural, woodsy theme!

image

I have a bird fetish which you will see when I reveal my all white glamour Christmas tree….sadly I missed these yesterday or I would have picked up a few of these beautiful white feathered birds.

image

I bought some of these  above and these below for client gifts

image

And you can’t forget about their iconic white lacquered trays!!  Or in any other colour you desire!!

image

Under my guidance my client purchased the following:

image

Tall Butler tray stand with the large lacquered metallic silver tray for her dining room.  It will look stunning!!

image

She also purchased this adorable silver hexagon side table for her family room.  She has one lone occasional chair that is screaming for a small table where guests can set a drink on. This one is perfect!!

So it will look something like this in the end:

image

We both also bought some of these fun bowls…..just because they were so cheerful looking!  They can be used in the kitchen or in an office to hold paperclips, etc.

image

West Elm is one of my most favourite decor stores to pick up affordable home accessories for clients and for myself!!  If you haven’t been on their website  or store, then you must do so STAT!!

Happy Shopping!!

Glamorously yours,

Christine xoxo

Christmas Inspiration Day 5: A glimpse into my Christmas decorating theme

Believe it or not, I’m still not 100% finished decorating my home even though I started at the end of November!!  And I won’t be getting my real tree until this weekend.  But in the meantime, I though I would show you how I have incorporated my Purple passion Christmas theme into my home so far!!

If you know me well, then you know how much I love wine.  So it only makes sense that my dining room table centrepiece is made out of full length wine staves from the barrel.  And its the perfect vessel to display my ornaments.

IMG_6977

IMG_6987

I’m really pleased how my purple ornaments in varying sizes along with my purple table runner look on my dining room table. It’s very dramatic and glamorous flanked by my mirrored candelabras.

IMG_6979

IMG_6980

My Lucite reindeer and snowballs are on prominent display on my sideboard, alongside my mother’s silver tea/coffee set that she gave me so it has a lot of sentimental value (BTW: it needs a good polishing)

IMG_6984

These snowballs are just Styrofoam balls with fake snow glued all over…..what an easy DIY project.  I actually found these at the Dollar Store and thought they were fabulous!!  And a great deal!!

IMG_6985

IMG_6986

On my other sideboard, I added a very glamorous mirrored tray to house my bar accessories.  Love my glittery nutcracker hidden among the martini utensils and wine decanter.

IMG_6988

My purple theme will flow into the family room with the real tree as the focal point – once my hubby chops it down this weekend.  So right now all I have decorated is the mantel and a side console table.  The fireplace is not finished because I haven’t hung the stockings yet.  I bought some really gorgeous purple peacock feathered stockings at the end of the season last year so I am looking forward to putting them up.  They will go perfectly with my purple & green peacock feathered trees.

IMG_6991

That’s a purple fur throw in the brown basket by the fireplace.

Here’s a close up of my feathered trees….aren’t they stunning???

IMG_6994

I love symmetry as you can see by the way I displayed my candle holders and trees on the mantle.  Once the room is finished I will put up new pictures so you can see the final result.

IMG_6999

And of course, we need more sparkle with my sparkly purple cones by the hearth.  Christmas is definitely the time to go overboard with lots of sparkle, glitz and glamour!!!

IMG_6992

One of the accent colours to go with my purple theme is orange and bronze…and I showcase this colour scheme with an assortment of ornaments in these colours.  I found these adorable and very glam deer and the tiny nutcracker at Bouclair.  My 2 daughters love the glittery purple deer.

IMG_6995

Here’s a better look! Have you noticed the feather theme going on here!! Feathers are very hot this season in ornaments.

IMG_6996

Next week I will show you my purple tree in all its glory, the foyer AND my white glamour tree that resides in front of the living room window for all to see!.  Yes, every year I have 2 trees!

Well I hope you enjoyed a peek into my Christmas decor, and that I was able to inspire your own Christmas decorating in some way.

Leave me a comment and tell me how you are decorating you home for Christmas this year.

Glamorously yours,

Christine xoxo

Decorate as You Dress! Overcast Grey!

The weather has been so dreary lately that I decided to wear a grey dress to a social function yesterday to match the weather.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love the colour grey and love using it in home decor….I just wish that in the middle of May I wasn’t wearing grey.  Oh well.

So here is the grey dress I wore yesterday…..so let’s find some gorgeous grey interiors to match my dress…..(my 8 yr. old daughter took this picture so it’s a bit blurry Girl)

I bought this dress at Zara in Barcelona, Spain when I was there in February

The walls of this eating nook speak overcast skies, while the silvery grey chairs shout glam!! Add some animal skin and grey hardwood floors and I would definitely hang out here on a rainy day!!

This grey living room also draws me in – it’s very chic and modern but still has a warmth to it.  I absolutely love that glamorous mirror above the fire place.  (Although I will admit the scale is all wrong with the fireplace – but that is another post) Yes, I would definitely enjoy entertaining friends on a rainy evening in this glamorous living room!

And I adore the grey wallpaper with its metallic sheen in this bedroom -  it raises the glam quotient to high alert!! And adding a touch of purple is always so perfect!!

Well I can’t make the gloomy days filled with rain go away…..but hopefully I have cheered you up just a little.

If your home is craving some glamour, then contact me online or in person! I’d love to help!

Decorate As You Dress: My Black Shiny Wedged Heels!

I just bought the cutest pair of black wedged heels from Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers line – and they are absolutely adorable for summer fun AND so comfy.

So how can you incorporate this look into your home?  Well let’s see what pictures these shoes inspired me to choose!

Black walls?  Oh la la!! I absolutely think this basement media room is stunning and totally goes against what you would think to do in a basement.  But it absolutely works.  And now one of my personal decor goals is to have a black room in my home.  This is a GLAM SLAM!!

I also love this black sawhorse desk…it’s so classic and would look so swanky in my bedroom retreat next to my leopard chaise.

Ghost Chair - Black Acrylic Stackable Arm Chair

The Kartell Louis Ghost Chair is an iconic, classic chair and although it’s a statement piece, it will fit in with any of your current furniture.  These chairs are timeless and long lasting pieces of furniture that won’t date so you will always find a place for it in your home.  I currently own 2 Victoria Clear Ghost chairs and I absolutely love them.  But the black ones are fab-u-lish!!

Don’t you love this entry way.  The black glossy console table with those gorgeous black Kartell Bourgie lamps will make your guests stop in their tracks mesmerized by their impact to the decor senses. I recently purchased 2 crystal Bourgie lamps that I am madly in love with….can’t wait to show them to you right here at the Glam Blog!

And last but not least:  Graphic accents like black and white certainly give a bedroom added oomph!  Look how adorable the gingham chair is next to that stunning chevron rug!!  I love this bedroom – don’t you?  Oh, and did you notice the dark grey walls….see, it’s not just for basements!!

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading my latest edition of Decorate as You Dress and that these pictures inspired you to bring more black into your home decor as much my new black shoes inspired me!

Sarah 101: Boho Chic in Simone’s girls’ bedrooms

It’s that time again!!!  Did you catch the latest episode of Sarah 101 decorating the bedrooms of 3 little sisters!!  OMG…I just love decorating little girls’ rooms and it’s probably because I have 2 little glamour girls of my own.

Love what Sarah and Tommy did with the colour scheme of the 2 bedrooms:  Corals, blues and yellow for the nursery AND blues and greens for the bedroom shared by the 2 older sisters.  Absolutely adorable.

Here’s a peak of the 2 rooms if you missed this episode:

Utterly delightful!!  In the next 2 months I will be updating the rooms of my  2 little girls and can’t wait to share the progress with you.  We are true girly girls in my house and the east wing of our house is called “The Pink Wing” – and that includes a pink laundry room.  So stay tuned!!

Glamour Friday: Dita Von Teese at Home

The latest issue of InStyle Magazine features Burlesque Showgirl Dita Von Teese in her home devoted to vintage glamour. And WOW, is it ever.  She’s obsessed with flamboyant walls (flocked velvet wallpaper junkies will be excited), taxidermy (!), ornate lighting and art deco furniture.

Her silver silk headboard is a major GLAM SLAM!!!  But I am definitely ooohhhhhhing and aaaahhhhing over Dita’s dressing room with an original mirrored vanity from the 1940’s while everything else in the room is brand new.  I love mixing old and new pieces together as it gives a room so much more substance and style.

Vintage car and art deco furniture in the living room – BUT I’m not going to discuss the stuffed monkey – apparently all her animals died of natural causes (thank god!).

And how adorable is her pink kitchen with the checkerboard flooring
