Home Office

Glamour Friday: Offices of Ana Antunes

I just discovered a fabulously glamorous new blog through pinning madly away on Pinterest.  The blog is called Home Styling and is written by Ana Antunes AND she is from Portugal….so naturally I was drawn to her as I am also Portuguese.

She runs a production company with her husband and is the Host of a Decorating Show in Portugal.  I fell in love with the pictures of her office on her website and had to share them with you.

Below is the reception and waiting area.  Love the black and white colour scheme….so chic and glam!

The next image is of her office.  It is stunning.  I’m a sucker for a good looking office with lots of glamour, especially since I am currently wanting to switch mine up.

Don’t you love the pink & white striped walls?

This is where her assistants work:

And the showroom.  My goal is to have a similar looking showroom in the next 12 months.

All in all I think Ana’s office is a definite Glam Slam in my opinion. It’s fresh, with clean lines and very chic!!!  What do you think?

Next week I have some exciting news to share with you!!  Stay tuned.  Have a fabulous weekend!

Glamorously yours,

Project Pink & Orange: Homework Room Update!

I meant to post this last week but this little puppy kept me very busy last week!  Meet Marilyn Monroe, our new tiny Yorkie!

photo (11)

Isn’t she absolutely adorable?

photo (12)

Anyway, last week my painter/wallpaper installer came in to work on the girls’ homework room.  It is looking absolutely fabulous and I couldn’t be happier.

Here’s a sneak peek of the wallpaper and the wall colour: Raspberry Blush by Benjamin Moore.

photo (4)

Then I was able to “force” my husband to put together the Ikea desks and chairs I bought for each girl.

photo (7)

Doesn’t it look fantastic so far……the girls are ecstatic and my vision for their homework room is coming to fruition!!

photo (8)

Can you believe I bought these adorable little storage bins from the dollar store…..you would think they were made for the wallpaper, they accent the paper and colours perfectly.

photo (9)

And the FILLSTA table lamp is perfect.  Although I must admit it took me a while to figure out how to put this lamp together. Embarrassed smile

photo (5)

So far so good!!  What’s left to do is put up shelving above the desk, create an art wall for their pictures & paintings and get going on my DIY chalkboard.  So stay tuned for another update soon!!

Glamour Friday: Aerin Lauder’s Glamorous Office

I remember completing a business paper on Estee Lauder when I was in New York getting my MBA.  I was fascinated with the Lauder family, especially Aerin Lauder as she was a few years older than me and working in the family business.

When she announced last year she was leaving the family business to set up her own Home and Fashion lifestyle company appropriately called “Aerin” I was excited.

This women just oozes style and class, so I was eager to get a glimpse into her new Manhattan office.  All I have to say is -  very chic and very glam!!

All images from Architectural Digest unless otherwise specified

I love how her offices look like a really comfortable living.  Also love the fabric on the green-blue velvet sofa.

I am currently obsessed with gold.  Absolutely adore this conference table with the mirrored table and gold leaf chairs and long sideboard.  This is how Aerin describes her conference room:

The mirrored dining table is by Karl Springer from the 1950s. Paired with the gold André Arbus sideboard, the pieces bring a little glamour to the conference room.

I begin hyperventilating every time I look at this gold étagère!!  So badly want this for my living room or office!!!

This gorgeous, elaborate mirror belonged to her famous grandmother.

She really is so pretty and I absolutely love her style.  What do you think of Aerin’s new offices.  A glam slam or over the top?

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Equestrian Style!

In honour of the Kentucky Derby taking place today I thought I would share with you some beautiful photos of true  equestrian style!

image

image

Love this equestrian themed office….look at the legs of the desk!

image

My oldest daughter is a budding equestrian and I can see her wanting some of these gorgeous fashion accessories in the future…or maybe mommy wants that purse now!!

image

I’m incorporating  a bit of an equestrian theme to Mackenzie’s room with large photos of horses and displaying the ribbons she has won so far  – I like what they did in the picture below!!

image

image

The equestrian style is so classic….love it!

image

Love this entry way – and how they displayed all the ribbons in a shadow box!  Must remember this idea!!

And here is my princess Mackenzie at her last Horse Show winning all kinds or ribbons with her pony Elmo!  Now this girl definitely has equestrian style!!

“I’ll be floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee.”

What does this famous quote by Muhammad Ali mean to my blog post – nothing really!  I just liked it and I have definitely been a busy little bee this past month.

You know that feeling when you lose control of the hours in your day and once the kids are put to bed you have nothing left to give….well, that’s how I have been feeling lately.  And unfortunately, my lil ole Glam Blog suffers….so my apologies for the lack of blog posts this month.

So I thought I would share with you some of the client projects that has been keeping me working like a busy bee:

I’m almost finished with my Northridge Trail client.  We just finished installing some custom built-ins.  Here’s a sneak peak.

image

This is the new entertainment unit I designed for their family room — without the hardware in this pic.  I love the clean lines and the shaker style door.

And here is the new built-in foyer seat with the custom cushion. Underneath are 3 small drawers for my client’s daughters to store their hat and accessories.

image

And a close-up of the hardware – don’t you love the half-moon pulls.

image

There is also a window seat in the living room but you will have to wait for the grand reveal to see it.  I’m really excited to show you how I was able to transform my client’s first level of her home!!

Now my Palace Pier client lives in a condo and needed a lot of storage space….which is why we turned to built-ins.  Below is a sneak peak at the installation that happened last week.

image

This storage unit in the office was built to organize and store my client’s daughter’s schoolwork, crafts etc.  It’s also a perfect place to store the printer and display some books or photos on the open book shelf.

image

This is the built-in I designed for her daughter’s bedroom.  As a result, she was able to remove 2 sets of dressers in this small room, open up the space but have the exact amount of drawer space she had before.  Behind the mesh screen is a shelf for her TV and DVD player.  The Swarovski crystal knobs give it a very girly touch….love it!!

image

And last but not least, is the master bedroom wardrobe with this incredible custom detailing on the doors of the wardrobe.  Once this room is finished it is going to look so glamorous….so stay tuned!!

image

Then I was busy completing a a design plan for a client with different floor plans options of the family room.  Here is a small sampling of what I present to my clients.

Family room 1 watercolour

The Dollhouse rendering view of the room.

FR V3 angle 2

A 3-D perspective of the room from one angle.

FR V2 Technical

And a technical overview of the room.

Well, that’s a snippet of a day(s) in the life of an interior decorator – ME! Winking smile  I can’t wait to show you the professional pictures of the first 2 projects above once they are done.  Oh, and thanks for sticking with my blog!!  I should be back to a regular blog posting schedule in the next week.

Glamorously yours,

Christine xoxo

What Are Your Decorating Projects for 2012?

Happy New Year Everyone!!  Now that we are almost one week into 2012 have you started to think about what you want to accomplish with your home decor this year?

Well, I definitely have! Besides finishing up a some client projects and continuing to write my What’s Trending column for Dabble Magazine, I have a few personal home decor projects that I have been putting off because 2011 was a busy year for me.

The 6 projects I want to start or complete are:

-  Converting my master bedroom retreat into a ‘glam cave’

- Purchasing a few furniture/accessories for the master bedroom to finish off the room

-  Revamping my home office a bit

- Finish decorating my 2 daughters’ bedrooms

- Converting my daughters’ playroom into a homework room

So here’s a sneak peak into some of the rooms and how they look right now:

This is my retreat that is right off of my master bedroom and it is boring with a capital B!!

IMG_5249

Right now we only use it for watching TV some nights when the girls are in bed.  The only things that are staying is my leopard print chaise because it is oh so glam!  And my capize shell chandelier because it is stunning.  My husband doesn’t know it yet but his god-awful recliner is so outta there!!

IMG_5250

The TV and the stand will stay of course – but those speakers and clutter on the floor are gone!!

IMG_5251

When I’m done it will be a purple passion glam cave with a stunning desk and chair, lighting and dramatic wallpaper!!

Next room to revamp is the kids playroom on the second floor.  When we bought/built this home it had a nook on the second floor called the ‘homework room.’  But we made it into a small playroom for the girls to play in.

IMG_5248

When I’m done with this room room it will have 2 side by side desks, an art wall one one side and a chalkboard wall on the other side with lots of shelves and storage.  I also found the cutest wallpaper for the main feature wall.  It’s going to look fabulous!

IMG_5246

My oldest daughter’s room is another room that needs to be updated.  Her current colour scheme is black/white & pink which will stay the same.  When she’s a bit older I will paint out the pink walls.

IMG_1625

Mackenzie is going to get a new double bed with a  headboard that I am designing for her.  And of course, new bedding.

IMG_1626

This little table & chairs is going to the basement but the shelf will stay

IMG_1627

That bare pink wall will be full of pictures – probably a gallery wall of her competing at horse shows since she is a budding equestrian.  Also her dresser will move to this wall and she will need a funky mirror on the wall.

IMG_5234

Her black velvet chandelier is definitely staying.  When I purchased this glamorous piece it was because it was a piece that would grow with her – it’s not juvenile at all.

IMG_5232

The Candice Olsen wallpaper called “Daisy” on the feature wall will remain.  I love this wallpaper so much, and again it is something that can grow with her into her teen years.  Her funky Homesense lamps will also stay!

IMG_5238

The bookshelf will stay but I want to style the shelves and get rid of most of those stuffies.  I’m also planning on doing a DIY project above the shelf to hang all the ribbons she has won so far participating in the horse shows.  And of course her window seat will remain.

IMG_5236

The last project I will highlight today is the bedroom of my youngest daughter Mya.

IMG_1624

Over 2 years ago the crib above converted into the daybed below.  But now she to big for it and needs her own twin bed.  Which she will get when her sister gets a new double bed.  Now that’s what I call recycling!  Smile

IMG_5225

Mya’s room decor is light pink with chocolate accents – which will stay the same except I’m going to add some orange accents through wallpaper and some accessories. Also her beautiful rose chandelier will remain….that piece will grow with her.

IMG_5226

Because a twin bed will be coming into this room the layout will change.  That rocker will also be heading to the basement to donate.  (I have lots of fond (and not so fond) memories of nursing both babies in that rocker).IMG_5228

I’m going to keep this adorable bookshelf just change its location.  The shelf will also remain.

IMG_5230

Her change table which became a dresser in the short-term will be donated and she will get a big girl’s dresser.  The armoire will go to the basement but I will keep it.  It’s a beautiful piece that I will eventually paint out and keep for one of the girls or use in our future cottage.

IMG_5227

Mya’s room has a cathedral ceiling so she has great natural light coming from her 3 large windows – although with this dark picture you wouldn’t think so!!  I’m going to add some architectural detail to the other walls by adding paneled moulding and wallpapering inside the panels.  It should look amazing when its done..

Okay, that’s it for now.  I’m exhausted just looking at what I need to accomplish in the new few months.  My office will have to wait for another post.

So tell me, what decorating projects will you be working on in 2012?

Christine xoxo

Christmas Inspiration Day 6: Shopping at West Elm

Wednesday night was the annual shopping event held at West Elm and  sponsored by Style at Home Magazine.  And once again, it was a fabulous night of shopping and networking with other design bloggers.  I brought a client/friend of mine and trust me we shopped till we dropped!!

Unfortunately I didn’t get to take any pictures because one hand was holding a glass of wine while the other was juggling an assortment of amazing home accessories from West Elm!!

So instead I thought I would show you some of the items we purchased yesterday along with some cool Christmas decorations you can purchase at the store or online.  Thankfully they ship right across Canada!!

image

Adorable nutcrackers and elves.

image

Love these double glass ornaments!!

image

If I wasn’t going all glitz and glamour this year again, I would definitely go with this natural, woodsy theme!

image

I have a bird fetish which you will see when I reveal my all white glamour Christmas tree….sadly I missed these yesterday or I would have picked up a few of these beautiful white feathered birds.

image

I bought some of these  above and these below for client gifts

image

And you can’t forget about their iconic white lacquered trays!!  Or in any other colour you desire!!

image

Under my guidance my client purchased the following:

image

Tall Butler tray stand with the large lacquered metallic silver tray for her dining room.  It will look stunning!!

image

She also purchased this adorable silver hexagon side table for her family room.  She has one lone occasional chair that is screaming for a small table where guests can set a drink on. This one is perfect!!

So it will look something like this in the end:

image

We both also bought some of these fun bowls…..just because they were so cheerful looking!  They can be used in the kitchen or in an office to hold paperclips, etc.

image

West Elm is one of my most favourite decor stores to pick up affordable home accessories for clients and for myself!!  If you haven’t been on their website  or store, then you must do so STAT!!

Happy Shopping!!

Glamour Friday: Fashion Offices of WhoWhatWear

I’m in the middle of re-doing my home office and designing my own personal Glam Cave off of my bedroom, so lately I have been inspired by glamorous offices.

The ever stylish ladies over at The Coveteur recently started a new collaboration with the equally stylish ladies from Who What Wear called Fashion Office .  They give you a a behind-the-scenes peek into the offices of some of the fashion world’s most exciting companies.

First up… WWW’s very own (and very new) headquarters!

image

Love this shelf for my office.  I’m looking for something similar to hold all my decor magazines, baskets of fabric memo samples, wallpaper samples, etc.  Need 2 and this shelf would work – but in white!

image

Something like this….love how they styled the shelves.  A clear jar filled with nail polishes…fabulous!!

image

I want to add a desk in my Glam Cave and am deliberating whether to go glass.  This one gives the room a very chic look.

image

Or maybe a white parsons desk?

image

Adore this little side table with the huge white mirror…..a Glam Cave must-have!! Chic purse – check!!

image

The inspiration board is fabulous….and the orange lacquered boxes are a must-have!!

image

A statement lamp and trays is key for both rooms!!

Well, I have lots to inspire me.  Enjoy some more pics from the offices of the WWW ladies.  Hope this post inspires you too!

Decorate As You Dress — My Coral Coach Purse!!

Happy Monday!!  Hope you all had a super weekend now that Spring weather has finally arrived.  Today I’m launching a new feature on The Glam Blog…..it’s called “Decorate As You Dress.”

It’s really quite simple….every Monday I will feature an article of clothing or accessory that I own and then talk about how I would decorate a room inspired by it’s colour, shape or texture.  And voila…you have ‘Decorate as You Dress!!”

The first “Decorate as You Dress” post is all about my brand new Coral Coach purse I purchased over March break.

IMG_5480

Isn’t it a gorgeous, fresh colour…..it’s so punchy and look how fabulous it looks with leopard print.  Coral/orange and anything leopard print is a definite GLAM SLAM!!

IMG_5477

And look how glorious it looks matched with a Victoria Ghost Chair by Philippe Starck for Kartell.

Now this is how I would decorate a room  based on my coral Coach purse!!

living rooms - woven blinds striped rugs coral upholstery floral print drapes courtesy of house of turquoise. Aqua blue accents with coral/orange

If you love coral, why not go for slip-covered comfy chairs and drapery in a coral & white print offset by turquoise blue.  Now that’s a fantastic colour combination!!

living rooms - blue floral drapes turquoise blue lamp orange turquoise blue pillow tan walls white table Tobi Fairley blue & coral living room

Room Designed by Tobi Fairley

Here`s the same colour combination n a room designed by Tobi Fairley.  Love the hits of coral in the ottoman and sofa cushions…and of course, we can`t forget about the orange book on the end table!!

bathrooms - coral white natural wood WSH bright cheery bathroom

How about shots of coral on the walls and and flooring through wallpaper and and a great patterned rug….this bathroom leaves me in a happy mood  — it`s a happy room!!

bedrooms - burlap headboard bed nailhead trim tan lamps tan Moroccan tables nightstands orange pink persimmon duvet pillows Phoebe Howard.

One of the quickest ways to update your home for spring is to add a jolt of colour, like this coral bedding to this bedroom.

dens/libraries/offices - Arabesque Rug-Coral taupe gray walls modern chic polished nickel bookshelves towers glass-top desk linen roman shades orange ribbon trim

Photo source; Decorpad,  Design by Studio Ten 25

I adore this office with its orange arabesque rug, glass-top desk, and natural linen roman shades with orange ribbon trim.  So very chic.  And what about the living room below.  Greys and corals are magnificent together.  The artwork and area rug are both absolutely beautiful and give this room so much personality.

Design by Studio Ten 25

Well, I hope you enjoyed my first “Decorate As You Dress“ post…and I hope my coral coach purse has inspired you to add some lovely coral accents into your home this spring!!

Now if you want to join in on the fun, then you too can be featured in a Decorate as you Dress weekly post.  Just send me a photo of something you love in your closet and (if you are brave)pictures of similar inspired decor OR I will find the decor inspiration for you and blog about it and you in the upcoming weeks.

Have a fabulously glamorous week!!
