Christine’s Rewind: What happened in September!

Hi! I’ve decided to start a new series today on The Glam Blog called “Christine’s Rewind.”  Sometimes I get so busy with client projects or my column for Dabble Magazine  that I don’t get to blog about things that are happening in my world.  Than weeks go by and all of sudden it feels like the moment was missed to blog about it.  So this new series will highlight what happened in the month previous that I never got to share with you. So here goes my September’s rewind – hope you enjoy it!

So did you catch my second appearance on Cityline?  If not, than click on the picture with Dina Pugliese and I talking about how to incorporate the pattern Chevron into your home decor.

Start at the 1:28 minute mark if you want.  (Cityline Chic Chevron segment)

My client Natalie’s fireplace got installed….so exciting.  Can’t wait to show you the final reveal for her dining room!  Yup, the fireplace is in her dining room.

2011-11-031

And the custom area rug and sofa that I designed for her got delivered!  What do you think?  Stay tuned for final reveal.  We had some issues with fabric availability for the two occasional chairs so they are delayed at this point.

And here is a sneak peek into my other client, Cindy’s new dining room.  Once we finish accessorizing the room I will dedicate a post to her living room and dining room.  It’s a total revamp from what she had before!!

I also attended the Korhani Rug Media Breakfast at Holt Renfrew.  Fashion and rugs…what more could a girl want!!

Here I am with Kirsten Korhani, the Creative Director, her husband and 3 special ladies I met that morning over breakfast.

The last week of September I was invited to attend the She’s Connected Conference.  In a room with 200 digitally connected women and 10 Corporations.  It was  a very informative 2 days.

RIP Steve Jobs – An Icon for our Digital Age

Apple announces Steve Jobs has died

Apple has announced the company’s co-founder Steve Jobs died Wednesday night.

He was 56 years old. Jobs went on medical leave from Apple in January saying he wanted to focus on his health.

When I received this email blast on my phone, I sat there stunned for a moment.  The world had just lost an extraordinary human being that had revolutionized the way we interact with technology in our lives.

So yea, although this post has nothing to do with interior design, the legacy Steve Jobs left with his Apple product will continue to impact the way I use technology with my business, Social Media and my blog in the future!!

RIP Steve Jobs…..the world has truly lost a true visionary and genius.

Sarah 101: Episode 4 and a crazy week for me!!

Hi Everyone,  did you catch episode 4 of Sarah 101 where Sarah and Tommy decorated Andrew’s bedroom in a loft setting.  I must say, besides purple I do love the colour blue because you can create a multitude of different moods for each room depending how you use it with other colour combinations.  This bedroom definitely has energy to it with the splashes of red and floral pattern in the headboard.

So we are 1/3 into Sarah 101….how are you liking it so far?  Does it compare to Sarah’s House or Design Inc.  Would love to hear your thoughts.

It’s going to be a crazy week for me.  Tomorrow morning I’m attending an exclusive media preview for the Interior Design Show (IDS11) being held in Toronto, Ontario  January 27th – 30th.

I will try to Tweet about it during the tour and will definitely take lots of pictures for The Glam Blog.

Then on Thursday night is the Gala Event for the IDS11 (rubbing shoulders with design celebrities I hope Flirt female) and a wonderful dinner with around 20 talented women in the design industry….oh and a few men sprinkled in there as well.  And believe it or not, most of us all met via Twitter and/or Facebook!!  I just love the power of social media….don’t you?

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE IDS OPENING NIGHT PARTY

And then Friday I am going to squeeze in some time at the IDS11 for Trade Day but then have to head to a secret location for a new project that I have been asked to contribute to.  Can’t tell you yet…but soon…..very soon!!

And then on the weekend I am finally getting professional shots taken of the kitchen renovation I finished this past fall with the ultra glamorous banquette I designed for my client.  Can’t wait to show you!!

This is a peak of how it looked before:

That’s it for now….hope to see you back here tomorrow!!

Blissdom Canada 2010…here I come!!!

Sorry, but no blog post on Interior Design and Decor today.  Instead, I wanted to let you know that this is where I will be on Thursday & Friday October 28th & 29th!!!

Blissdom Canada is Canada’s first social media conference for women, by women; it’s a celebration of how, why, and in what ways women use the Internet and other virtual tools to achieve and hold on to their bliss. Speakers and attendees will come together to teach, learn and inspire each other.

Women from across North America will gather to discuss what it means to be a Canadian woman networking, publishing and pursuing both business and pleasure in a borderless online world. All this, and plenty of opportunity for fun, frolic and friendship, under the bright red maple leaves of autumn in Canada’s largest city.

BlissDom Canada

I will be back by the weekend with a new halloween post…full of glamorous halloween decorating!!

If your home is craving some glamour, then contact me online or in person!  I’d love to help!

GlamaMama hangin’ with Steven & Chris

That’s right….I’ve become a Design Show groupie…..attending the taping of different design shows as an audience member!!  Last month it was the Nate Berkus Show and this month it was the Steven and Chris design show….good Canadian boys!! :-)   What can I say….I love my Design Shows!!

The audience consisted of various Design, Lifestyle and Mommy Bloggers..a great audience made up of all women except for 1 token male screaming and applauding for one of the cutest gay design couples in Canada!!

Check us all out at the taping of the show on October 19th, 2010

Apparently Chris is not a DIYer (like me) so he stayed backstage while Steven showcased his DIY segment — How to create two beautiful and rich looking memento frames  – easy and inexpensive to create!  Here is the end result!!

Jenny McCarthy was their special guest — gorgeous and oh so skinny!!  She talked about her new book “Love, Lust & Faking It: The Naked Truth About Sex, Lies, and True Romance”.   Sounds like there are quite a few naughty bits in this book….so I MUST read it!!

Chef Rodney Bowers made his infamous Pulled Pork on air….and let me tell you….it was delish.  How do I know it was delish?  Well, after the show, the producers put together a luncheon for all the bloggers with Steven and Chris.  That was a nice surprise.  Click here to get the recipe for Rodney’s Pulled Pork sandwich….look how good it looked!!

P.S.  My name wasn’t on the original Steven and Chris invite list that went out to the blogger attendees so I was a guest of  my friend Tamara from Wonder Moms.  That is why my blog isn’t on the blogger list outlined on their website.  Hopefully they add it on. :-)

Hottest Ticket in Town!!!

I'm speaking at the ShesConnected Conference

Apparently I received one of the hottest tickets in town right now — an invitation to attend the ShesConnected conference being held on October 20th in downtown Toronto!!  Do I really think that I’m one of the most connected women in Canada — not really — but they saw something in my profile to choose me as one of their invitees so I’ll accept the “label” as your representative at this conference.  :-)

What’s it all about:  ShesConnected is a full day, hands-on conference and workshop to connect top brands with Canada’s most influential and powerful digital women.  Brands are sponsoring this event so that selected digital women attend for free. In exchange, digital women attending will gain insights on how to best work with brands and get connected with other great women.  Sounds pretty good to me!!!

The irony is that I am a former brand marketer that marketed quite a few #1 consumer brands in Canada during my 10 year career in consumer packaged good marketing.  In my previous life as a Sr. Brand Manager I would have been one of the brand representatives vying for the attention of these digitally savvy women  so I could learn how to connect with them and get them talking about my brand.

Next week, I will be on the other side of the table watching and listening with great interest in how these 10 brands want to build a relationship with me and all these other connected women.  Because truly, women are a force to be reckoned with in the marketing world – and one of the obvious reasons is that women control 80% of the consumer dollars spent!!  WOW!!

Marketing will always be in my blood…everyday I’m performing some form of marketing or another for my own interior decorating & design company…except this time there is a huge difference….I AM THE BRAND!!

So whether you market a product or you yourself  are the brand, there will be much to learn from this shesconnected conference and I can’t wait to share it with you next week!

If you’re looking to add some glamour & style into your home, then contact me online or in person.
