One of a Kind Spring Show: My favourite Finds!!

I attended the Media Preview Breakfast on Wednesday for the latest One of a Kind Show which is on now at the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place in Toronto.
If you have never attended this show, than I highly recommend you visit this weekend before it ends on April 1st. Where else can you find unique home decor items, fashion and jewellery all made by Canadian Artisans.

One of a Kind Umbrella Competition
April showers bring May flowers! We have invited all of our Spring Show exhibitors to create a piece inspired by the theme “Umbrella” to welcome Spring! From the shape of a raindrop to the freshness of the season, show off your creative edge and use your own medium to design an exciting creation based on your interpretation of this theme. Be sure to visit this display in centre aisle, and cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award!

One of my favourite artisans is at the show. You may remember Lia Fagan from Mod Pieces….she created that fabulous chevron vintage lamp that I used for my second Cityline show appearance last September.

I also totally fell in love with the pottery from Claire Madill!
Gorgeous!!
Another highlight for me was this new artisan to the show, Coeur De Lion Textiles.
Is this not the most fabulous throw you have ever seen?
And look, fabulous cushions to go with that gorgeous throw!
And last, but not least, I fell in love with Tat Chao’s glass candle holders – made from repurposed wine glasses!
What do you think of this light fixture he created – it’s quite phallic looking and quite the conversation starter! It’s so original….I luv it!

Wow, I can’t believe a full year has gone by already since the very first issue of Dabble Mag was launched!! I am so honoured to be involved with this inspiring online magazine as a design contributor. And it’s all due to the founder and editor-in-chief Kimberley Seldon! IDS Week and other fun events you need to know about!!

Well, its that time of year again when utter craziness begins with fabulous social events! Starting tomorrow, the Interior Design Show opens in Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. And I can’t wait!! It’s always a great par-tay!!
When I attended the media preview and the gala last year I posted about them here and here! Although I can’t make it to the media preview this year due to time constraints I will be attending the gala with all my interior design friends and attending Trade Day on Friday.
But first, Kimberley Seldon is having a pre-gala launch party & tweet-up for her new Business of Design website. Business of Design is a network community of industry peers; an innovative professional development website specifically created for interior design professionals.
Once Kimberley’s party is finished at Modern Weave, then it is off to the Gala for the IDS opening night!! Remember this pic of the gang from last year! Same faces – new outfits!!
Haven’t figured out what I am going to wear yet but I am wearing these fabulous ‘shooties” by LAMB I bought last week! Are they not to die for!! And yes, my feet will be dying by the end of the evening!! 
Then Friday morning we are off to Trade Day at the IDS Show. I’m attending Blog Podium right at 9 am to hear a series of great speakers speak to a huge group of design bloggers.
Should be a very insightful morning!! After that the gang will wander all the fabulous design booths and I promise to take lots of pictures.

One of a Kind Christmas Show – My favourite Gift Finds!!

Last week I attended the Media Breakfast for the One of a Kind Christmas Show and had the opportunity to walk around the show and visit the booths of Canada’s most talented artisans. Below are some of favourite gift finds!! (It’s a long post….but mostly filled with beautiful pictures of lots of good stuff!!)
Now that my daughter is talking horse back riding I’m automatically drawn to anything with horses. Danielle Hession used mixed media and custom art to create her wonderfully creative artwork.
She uses old photographs and then creates these pieces of artwork.
Kailey Hawthorn had the cutest clocks and cushions in bright colours and amazing prints.
Fluf once again had adorable bags and cushions in original hand-printed designs.
And new this year was this very cute wall art – perfect for a child’s bedroom.
Owls are still a hot decorative accessory item….so if you don’t have any owls in your home than you better get some!!! STAT!! These are by Hilary Cosgrove:

Loving that chevron owl!!! What a cutie!!
These custom personalized blankets are a perfect gift for a new baby from Admiral Road.
Canadian artist Blake Richardson creates these one of a kind pieces out of bark and stone. Fabulous!!
I also found some truly unique furniture pieces for the home that will be sure to be conversations starters!! The Recycler literally recycled old bike parts into pieces of furniture. For the avid cyclist in your family, this is a perfect gift item!!
Philippe and Anne Palafray of Quebec create gorgeous one of kind pieces of furniture….I want this antler console table!!!
The drawers are old library pull-out drawers!!
Wood also continues to be hot!! In its natural raw from or laminate!!! Check out these pieces from Kino Guerin:

Camera Ready!! CHCH TV Decor Segment

Hi Everyone, So last week I had an opportunity literally fall into my lap via Twitter. An assignment editor for CHCH News in Hamilton tweeted that she needed someone to talk about Christmas decorating Trends – STAT!!
I raised my hand on Twitter and the next day I was filming at Sheridan Nurseries with Lisa Hepfner, a CHCH News Reporter.

Black and silver is hot this season for Christmas tree decorating. Lots of Glitz and Glamour!!
Aubergine and chartreuse are still very popular this year.
And one tree is not enough!! Many families are having 2 to 3 trees in their home. One for the family room, one “adult” tree and one tree for the kids (i.e.: in their bedroom or playroom)
How adorable are these decorations for a child’s tree.
And forget about tree toppers….they are so passé!!! Just add extra fullness at the top of the tree.
Christmas is my most favourite season….and I am so looking forward to beginning my holiday decorating. What about you?

Christine’s Rewind: What happened in September!

Hi! I’ve decided to start a new series today on The Glam Blog called “Christine’s Rewind.” Sometimes I get so busy with client projects or my column for Dabble Magazine that I don’t get to blog about things that are happening in my world. Than weeks go by and all of sudden it feels like the moment was missed to blog about it. So this new series will highlight what happened in the month previous that I never got to share with you. So here goes my September’s rewind – hope you enjoy it!

My client Natalie’s fireplace got installed….so exciting. Can’t wait to show you the final reveal for her dining room! Yup, the fireplace is in her dining room.
And the custom area rug and sofa that I designed for her got delivered! What do you think? Stay tuned for final reveal. We had some issues with fabric availability for the two occasional chairs so they are delayed at this point.
And here is a sneak peek into my other client, Cindy’s new dining room. Once we finish accessorizing the room I will dedicate a post to her living room and dining room. It’s a total revamp from what she had before!!
I also attended the Korhani Rug Media Breakfast at Holt Renfrew. Fashion and rugs…what more could a girl want!!

The last week of September I was invited to attend the She’s Connected Conference. In a room with 200 digitally connected women and 10 Corporations. It was a very informative 2 days.

Sarah’s House is Back!!!!

A new season of Sarah’s House begins on Tuesday, October 18th!! I had a chance to walk through the house that Sarah and Tommy transformed…and it was absolutely stunning!!
Also, Sarah Richardson is seeking lucky homeowners for Season 2 of Sarah 101. Check out the details below:
Ever dreamed of inviting Sarah into your home and having her re-imagine a room in her signature style? Well, this just might be your chance! Sarah is currently seeking spaces in need of a high style makeover for her hit series, Sarah 101. Is this your dream come true? Here’s how it works:
- We are seeking motivated individuals who will receive a decorating/design makeover from HGTV’s top design talent, Sarah Richardson and her partner in design, Tommy Smythe.
- Each makeover will have an approximate value of $10,000 in product and over $15,000 in design services, and will be conducted in a short period of time depending on the scope of work (approx. 2-4 weeks).
- We are seeking dramatic “befores” as the backdrop for magazine-worthy “afters.”
- We are looking for adventurous, excited homeowners (or renters with permission from the landlord) who are willing to open their door and invite in one of Canada’s best design teams to treat their home as a blank canvas.
- We are seeking interesting spaces with loads of character and “great bones”, which can be transformed through re-decoration or light renovation (no extensive structural work), and homeowners willing to share their design adventure on camera.

I love the month of September..not only because fall is coming and its always a time of rejuvenation but because of the great Interior Design Social Events that start happening. And you know me……gotta always be in the middle of all the action! 
Tonight I attended AYA Kitchen Design Party and was surrounded by utter kitchen lust. If you are considering a kitchen renovation than call me so we can head on over to AYA Kitchens together.
Tomorrow I am attending a breakfast at Holt Renfrew given by KORHANI Home to hear about their upcoming collaborations, upcoming holiday collection and a sneak peak into spring 2012 trends. Korhani makes chic but affordable rugs for your home – inside & out!
I absolutely adore this rug from their Limited Edition Korhani Runway collection—how GLAM is that!!! It’s called Burlesque No. 4 – Blue – Cream.
Then I’m off to the Toronto Fall Home Show for a fun Tweet-up mingling and tweeting with Toronto’s top home, interior design, renovation and decor friends and bloggers. Can’t wait!
But right now I’m feeling a bit nostalgic for this time last year. On September 21, 2011 I went down to NYC with approx. 100 ++ Design Bloggers from all over North America to be in the audience of the Nate Berkus Show. And it was a jam-packed 24 hours.
