Decorate As You Dress
Decorate as You Dress — Flower Power!!
I am way overdue for a Decorate as You Dress blog post and the recent purchase of these fabulous floral wedge heels inspired me. Aren’t they absolutely gorgeous for spring/summer. And what an easy look to incorporate into your home decor this season. Love the feminine chintz pattern on these seat cushions (image from Style at Home magazine)
Here are a few more images from the same home featured in the April Colour issue of Style at Home Magazine.

And of course, you can never go wrong with having fresh flowers in every room!!

In the latest spring issue of Dabble Magazine I wrote how Florals in home decor are a constant trend during the spring/summer season. You can read my latest column here.

So, will you incorporate something flowery into your closet and home decor this season. Let me know by leaving a comment below!!
Happy Victoria Day long weekend to my fellow Canadian friends!!

Decorate as You Dress! Mint Green Obsession!
Hi Everyone,
Lately I have been obsessed with mint green in both fashion and home decor. To the point where I just got my nails painted in this lovely hue!

I also started a board on Pinterest highlighting everything I love in fashion and home decor in Mint Green. You can follow my board here if you have an account.
In the meantime, here are some glorious images of this fresh colour to inspire you to add some mint green to your closet or home decor this spring!!
The current issue of House Beautiful is all about green!! Love that stunning chair!
The fashion runways for spring 2012 also showed a lot of mint green. However, this colour has been popular for many years now as seen in the gorgeous Haute Couture gown by Elie Saab from her spring 2010 collection. So there really is no need to be fearful of adding this colour into your closet or a few toss cushions!!
Now let’s look at some interior design highlighting mint green in all its glory!!

Gorgeous mint green walls!!
Room design by Nick Olsen
How about a mint green kitchen??
If that is too much for you, then how about some mint green pieces for the room: Like this vintage green fridge by SMEG! FUN!
A simple green chair can also make quite the impact!
I’m loving how fun this mint green vintage tub looks in this bathroom!
How about a quick DIY: Grab some mint green paint and freshen up your bookshelf for spring! (don’t you love how the shelves were styled also!)
I absolutely adore the look of this room. Imagine a sea-side cottage and you’ve got this gorgeous room. I love the mint green grass cloth wallpaper and accessories.
!!
Here’s a sneak peak into my family room. The wall colour is called Sea Haze / BM 2137-50 and depending on the light it can look like sea foam. I really love this colour by Benjamin Moore because it changes to so many colours throughout the day! Highly recommend it!!
And last but not least, I couldn’t resist including these vision boards I found on Pinterest – they basically say it all!! I love Mint Green!!
So are you obsessed with Mint Green now….I hope so, because you will be seeing a lot of it this spring!! Have a great day!!

Decorate As You Dress: Tangerine Tango!!
This is the first “Decorate As You Dress” blog post of the year and I thought why not start it off with Pantone’s 2012 Colour of the year: Tangerine Tango!!
“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
Now let’s take a look at how you can incorporate this vivacious colour into your wardrobe or home decor:
I absolutely adore this spring coat as much as I adore this headboard. Now that’s the way to add some POP into your room!!
On the other hand, this kitchen is definitely over the top orange which is something I would NOT recommend doing in your home but I would definitely wear that cute orange outfit above.
Pops of orange like these counter stools or the dining room chairs below is a much palatable way to go with decorating your home in this hue! And used with whites is a sure-fire way to garner positive attention.
Definitely much more refined looking when such a bright colour is used as more of an accent!
But if you want to stop traffic at your next gala event, then this gown is the way to go!!! STUNNING!!
And just as stunning is this front door. What a way to welcome guests to your home!
I’m actually coveting this glorious wallpaper along with these oh so glam Steve Madden shoes!!! Be still my beating heart!!
In case you want to run out and paint a feature wall in this colour, Benjamin Moore has a similar colour called Tangerine Melt CC-091.
If I have inspired you to incorporate this wonderful colour into your home or closet, here are a few tips:
1) This hue is magical when used as an accent against a neutral background, especially with greys!
2) Don’t be afraid to use in colour combinations such as blue & orange or pink & orange!
Wow, I love this glamorous girly look for my Glam Cave!!
3) Don’t be shy about incorporating this colour into your wardrobe or home decor…start off small, then go from there!
Like this or like this……
4) This colour is not for everyone so if it doesn’t suit your skin tone or you absolutely hate anything orange in your home, then DON”T DO IT!! Instead try Benjamin Moore’s 2012 colour of the year: Wythe Blue (HC-143). I’ll blog about this colour later this week.
So tell me….are you ready to tango with the tangerine?

Christmas Inspiration Day 4 – Toy Watch Gift Idea
Struggling with a Christmas gift idea….well here’s one you may love for someone special or for yourself!!!
I fell in love with the Toy Watch brand of watches last spring when I saw it on one of my girlfriends’ wrist. And voila, for Mother’s Day I had this little charmer on my arm!!
I blogged about it in one of my “Decorate as you Dress” posts last spring here.

Well, now it’s time (I think) for a black Toy Watch …..and this is the baby that I have put on my Santa list!! It has lots of sparkle and glam….exactly what I love in my fashion accessories and in my home decor accessories.
Or maybe this one……What do you think?

These watches are so much fun….and I promise, you will get a ton of compliments on your new watch….So if you are struggling on what to tell your significant other what to get you…..you may want to consider a fun, sassy Toy Watch. Or better yet give it to a fashionable young lady….she’ll love you for it!!
Happy Shopping!!!
Glamorously yours,
Christine xoxo
P.S. You should have read this blog post yesterday….but I got carried away Christmas shopping and forgot to press publish!! So you may receive 2 posts in one day!! Ciao for now!!
Decorate as You Dress! Overcast Grey!
The weather has been so dreary lately that I decided to wear a grey dress to a social function yesterday to match the weather. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the colour grey and love using it in home decor….I just wish that in the middle of May I wasn’t wearing grey. Oh well.
So here is the grey dress I wore yesterday…..so let’s find some gorgeous grey interiors to match my dress…..(my 8 yr. old daughter took this picture so it’s a bit blurry
)
I bought this dress at Zara in Barcelona, Spain when I was there in February
.
The walls of this eating nook speak overcast skies, while the silvery grey chairs shout glam!! Add some animal skin and grey hardwood floors and I would definitely hang out here on a rainy day!!

This grey living room also draws me in – it’s very chic and modern but still has a warmth to it. I absolutely love that glamorous mirror above the fire place. (Although I will admit the scale is all wrong with the fireplace – but that is another post) Yes, I would definitely enjoy entertaining friends on a rainy evening in this glamorous living room!

And I adore the grey wallpaper with its metallic sheen in this bedroom - it raises the glam quotient to high alert!! And adding a touch of purple is always so perfect!!
Well I can’t make the gloomy days filled with rain go away…..but hopefully I have cheered you up just a little.

Decorate as You Dress!! Kate’s Lace Wedding Dress
In honour of the Royal Wedding, today’s Decorate As You Dress post is all about gorgeous lace home decor inspired by Kate’s stunning wedding dress.
Kate Middleton’s wedding dress was an ivory gown with lace applique floral detail designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. The train and bodice are decorated with delicate lace applique flowers, handcrafted using the Carrickmacross lace-making technique, which originated in Ireland in the 1820s.

So now here are a few items I found to help you get started on infusing your home with lace inspired home decor!
The cellular, organic patterns of this Coral Café Table add a little excitement to the café experience indoors or out!!
The Alessi La Rosa Fruit Bowl designed by Emma Silvestris, symbolizes femininity, grace and love. How perfect!
These chairs are a stylish designer-inspired lace grille design that is quite delicate and fragile, with butterflies. Designer Janne Kyttänen captured nature at its best with these beautiful stackable stools.

California based Floral Art have a new piece in their collection. Jennifer McGarigle has been inspired by her fashion design background and has encompassed lace with lucite and silk to create this divine piece of furniture. I am in love with this chair!! This is definitely a GLAM SLAM!!
This 5-hook lace hanger is adorable for a little girl’s room or an ultra-feminine bedroom or hallway.

I love this wallpaper…..it looks like real lace!! Absolutely fabulous!

And I just adore this pendant light….when it is turned on look at how the design creates lace shadows on the walls. So dramatic for a foyer or large hallway!

A Glam Slam Or a Total Sham? Cher’s Bedroom
Monday’s regular feature “Decorate As You Dress” will return next week. Today I couldn’t resist sharing this bedroom with you and asking – Is it a total GLAM SLAM OR is it a total SHAM!??
Now you certainly wouldn’t expect anything less from Cher – whatever she does always makes an impact….and so does this bedroom
Her bedroom was designed by Martyn Lawrence Bullard, designer to many celebrities. For Cher, he added Moroccan flair to her bedroom through this majestic headboard from the early 18th century and carried this theme throughout the rest of the room’s furnishing and decorative accessories.
So, is it a diva-worthy bedroom? You tell me…Glam Slam or Total Sham??

Erin McLaughlin, Editor-in-Chief of Style at Home has named three of the big design trends that are popping up in the industry this spring and Style at Home has been kind enough to share them with me.
Trend 1: Hollywood Regency
Trend 2: Bold 80’s Colour
Trend 3: Diminutive Plants
And now I want to share my most favourite of the 3 trends mentioned in Erin’s Style at Home Spring Trend Report: “Hollywood Regency.” If you’ve been reading my blog for a while or follow me on Twitter than you know that was a pretty obvious choice!
The photo below of a very glamorous boudoir from Style at Home’s very popular High/Low feature highlights glamour in all its glory!! Oh yes….it is a GLAM SLAM!!

So here are some key ingredients to creating Hollywood Regency glamour in your home:
- Elaborate chandeliers
- Mirrored surfaces
- Lots of Lacquer
- Luxurious velvets
I’m also crushing on the panelled walls…..what an economical approach to add architectural detail to any plain square room!
Oh, and one last item that is a big MUST in any glamorous room!! Books – Fashion books in particular are also a stylish source of inspiration and you know how I truly believe that you should decorate as you dress.
