Christmas

Christmas Tour of my House 2012!

Merry Christmas sweet faithful readers!!!

Are you ready for Christmas?  I am almost finished gift wrapping – just have the gifts for my 2 girls left….and I can’t wrap until they are in bed!! Gift with a bow

But at least I have finished all my Christmas decorating….and I would love to give show you how I decorated my house this year.  So welcome to my Christmas Tour 2012!!!

Let’s start with the first room you see when you enter through the front doors and turn to the right — the Conversation Room AKA the living Room:

IMG_4501

This year I decided to go with a glamorous gold tree versus the white one I have put up for the last 3 years. I am very happy with how it turned out. It goes perfectly with the blue and gold theme in the conversation room and of course, it is ultra glamorous!!

Here are some of the new decorations I bought for the new gold tree.  One of my favourite things to do each season is find new decorations that reflects my mood.

My Photo Stream

The theme remains the same: birds, owls and fabulous shoes.  However, the first one is an adorable lucite motorcycle – for my hubby and the 2nd one is a tiny Eiffel Tower.  A trip to Paris, France has been promised to me in the near future. Airplane

There is an electric fireplace in the conversation room and each year I love to decorate it in shimmery silver and whites.

IMG_4498

IMG_4497

Although I love all the glitz and glamour, there was something missing between those 2 windows.  So I decided to do a quick DIY project and make some glamorous feather wreaths.

Some Dollar Store finds quickly becameMy Photo Stream1

this……I love it…simple but oh so glam!!!

IMG_4609

Now lets head into the foyer….here is where my purple Christmas decor theme begins.

IMG_4506

Oh wait, I decided to add my 2nd white feather wreath here….much better don’t you think?

IMG_4617

Ok, let’s turn slightly right and head into the  dining room where I continue to use purple accents.

IMG_4555

This year I decided to intermingle large pinecones with different sized purple ornaments in various textures as the centrepiece on my dining room table.  I call it rustic glam! And the dining room wouldn’t be complete without my beautiful lucite reindeer.  To this day, I still get asked where I bought them.

IMG_4536

Now lets head to the back of the house into the family room where we showcase the real tree that we cut down at the tree farm each year.  Here is where we have fun with our decorations and the girls actively decorate.  Our home has 10 feet ceilings on the main level and normally our tree is that high….however this year we were a bit late getting to the tree farm so its just under 9’ft this year. And it made a huge difference in how many decorations we could get on our tree.

IMG_4495

This is the instagram photo I took of our tree. (On a side note, if you are on instagram, than please follow me here and I will follow you back!)

My Photo Stream2

If you noticed from my gold tree and this one, I do not like tree toppers.  I much prefer to continue the decorations all the way to the top.

When we were at Disney World last March Break, we purchased some fun decorations.

This one is Mya’s Minnie Mouse ears!

IMG_4523

And this one is Mackenzie’s…..Santa Mickey!

IMG_4525

Can you guess that this one is mine?

IMG_4527

The feather theme also continued into this room with my gorgeous purple peacock feather trees and wreath.

IMG_4533

IMG_4517

And last but not least, we can’t forget about Mr. Reindeer…..we couldn’t leave him out….doesn’t he look festive?

IMG_4529

Well, this is the end of the our tour…..hope you enjoyed it!  And I hope that you and your families have a fabulous Christmas celebrating with lots of good cheer!!

Merry Glamorous Christmas!!! xoxo

Dabble Magazine: Dabbling in Gold!

Did you receive the latest issue of Dabble Magazine in your inbox?  Its all about celebrating the upcoming Holiday season.  I absolutely love the Christmas tree on the over….the blues and purples are gorgeous and not your typical traditional Christmas colours.

Dabble Dec-Jan 2012

Lately I have been majorly crushing on anything GOLD.  And I talk about this in my latest What’s Trending column, as you can see from the image below.

Gold column

There’s also more Golden goodness on the Dabble Blog. If you are so over silver and chrome in your home, then hopefully these featured products will inspire you to add some glamorous gold into your home decor for 2013.

To also help you get into the Christmas spirit, My friend, Nicolas Rosaci, the resident Dabble DIY Guy has some great DIY ideas to enhance your gift wrapping this season.

dabblemag

Later this week I will give you a holiday tour of my house all decorated for Christmas.  In the meantime, there is only 6 more days left till Christmas…..Yikes!!  Good luck!!

On a more serious note:  As a mother of 2 young girls, I was heartbroken about the terrible tragedy in Connecticut that had 20 beautiful children taken from their parents.  Our children and families are so precious and we must never take them for granted.  Please kiss and hug your loved ones today and everyday.  I know I am.

Why I’ve been missing in action on the Glam Blog!

I apologize profusely for being MIA on the Glam blog for over a month!!  But I have a really good reason!!  And its fantastic news.  Last month — actually November 1st to be exact – I met with the producers of the show Property Brothers to discuss opportunities as a production designer for their new show called Buying & Selling.

1_large

Anyway, to make a long story short, they hired me to work on an episode filming in the GTA.  Basically a production designer works behind the scenes ensuring that all the design aspects of the project happen.  So no, I won’t be on TV.  The Property Brothers are the stars of the show.  And it is absolutely crazy how fast they film these shows.  No rest for the wicked….trust me.

Here’s the premise of the show:

Join Jonathan and Drew Scott of the Property Brothers for Buying & Selling, the series where they help homeowners take their next step up the property ladder. Featuring two pivotal real estate moments, double the stress, and twice the manpower. Jon renovates the family’s home for a successful sale, while Drew hunts down the best options for the family’s next property and oversees the selling and buying.

They are in their second season, but the show is new to Canada.  It currently airs in the US on HGTV.

2_large

They filmed 3 shows before Christmas, and I was able to work on one of them.  I can’t get into details on the episode until it airs of course…..but as soon as it does I will share with you all the before and after pictures of the home renovation we worked on.

Buying & Selling begins airing on the W Network Jan 8, 2013. And yours truly will appear in the closing credits as Production Designer.  Whoooo Hooooo!!  You gotta start somewhere.  And hopefully, this will lead to other opportunities with Cineflix.

Anyway, I will be back with regular blog posts starting tomorrow.  How is your Christmas decorating coming along?  Can’t wait to show you my new glamorous gold tree and all the pretty new decorations I bought for it.

Glad to be back….I missed you all!!

Glamorously yours,

Christine xoxo

Christmas Rewind 2011

Wow….I can’t believe 2011 is almost over.  I shut down for a bit over the holidays to spend time with my husband and 2 daughters.  It’s not too often that the girls and I have our #1 man for a solid week….so I decided to just focus on the family!

But I did promise you a peak into my Christmas decor so here is “Christine’s Christmas Rewind”. We had a wonderful holiday with family and friends over on Christmas eve AND day!!   A bit crazy and hectic, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

My darling glamour girls in front of our white Glamour tree in the living room.

IMG_7081

IMG_7007

Every year I purchase a few new ornaments for my white glamour tree.  This year my husband bought me this gorgeous chandelier with lots of bling from a Christmas Store.  Isn’t it gorgeous!!

IMG_7009

Another chandelier ornament I got this year…..and believe it or not, I got this one at Wal-Mart.  I love mixing high and low ornaments on my tree.

IMG_7010

My white tree is always a Blue/White & Silver theme with lots of birds and diamond crystal motifs.

IMG_7011

I haven’t been into tree toppers for the last few years and instead prefer to add fullness via decorations at the top.

IMG_7012

Another new chandelier ornament I picked up this year.

IMG_7017

Diamonds are always a girl’s’ best friend!!

IMG_7018

The four of us have personalized silver ornaments on the tree each year!

IMG_7022

This is my fireplace mantle in the living room….again all glamour with lots of sparkle!

IMG_7023

Don’t you love my ice crystals….they look like diamond chips or frozen ice chips on my mantle.

IMG_7024

IMG_7028

This is my stunning 3-piece mosaic Christmas tree that greets visitors when they walk into the front foyer.  It can look blue or purple depending on the light.

IMG_7030

This is my console table in the foyer.  Unfortunately, my purple feather wreath fell off the mirror above so I just set it behind my purple decor boxes.

IMG_7033

If you look in the mirror you can see one of my 2’ foot Santa on the staircase landing.

IMG_7035

The girls love my miniature purple trees and of course, the purple Diva Deer (as we nicknamed her).  She oversees the family room purple tree!

IMG_7038

IMG_7059

And here is our purple passion Christmas tree that resides in the family room!!

IMG_7039

And of course, we all have ornaments that reflect our personalities!   Yup, that fancy shoe is mine!  Winking smile

IMG_7044

Our eldest is a budding equestrian.

IMG_7045

Our youngest is the dancer of the family.

IMG_7042

Butterflies, birds and peacock feathers is a common theme with our decor this year.

IMG_7048

IMG_7072

IMG_7047

I purchased a few fun ornaments like this chevron one and the polka-dot one below!! (sorry for the blurry shots)

IMG_7050

IMG_7054

I chose orange and green accents to offset all the purple this year.

IMG_7076

IMG_7075

IMG_7059

I used lots of purple wrapping paper to pretty up the bottom of the tree.

IMG_7064

IMG_7067

IMG_7065

We hosted 15 guests on Christmas eve and had a seafood extravaganza of lobster, crab and jumbo shrimp.   Mmmmmmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

DSC06821

My husband is the cook and I set the table….one of my most favourite things to do when we are entertaining.

DSC06820

This year all my guests took home this crystal diamond ornament used as a napkin ring.

DSC06828

Place settings are also a must!

DSC06834

One of my favourite traditions each holiday season is putting a cracker by each place setting.  Everyone wears their silly paper hats and each person has a chance to read out their funny joke to the table.  My holiday crackers are actually purple but they look blue in this picture.DSC06835

And then this is what we woke up to Christmas morning!l Open-mouthed smile

DSC06870

Hope you too had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.  Thanks for hanging out while I did a not-so-quick Christmas rewind.

All the best heading into new year’s eve!!

Christine xoxo

Christmas Inspiration Days 7–14: Christmas Trees from around the world!!

Hi, with Christmas just around the corner, I have been super crazy busy getting ready for the holidays and trying to tie up some loose ends with design clients this past week.  And I am pretty sure you would say the same thing back to me.

So below is a gorgeous tree for every day that I missed since my last Christmas Inspiration blog post !  Hope you enjoy these Christmas trees from around the world.  Some of these trees are utterly amazing and creative. So it’s nice to take just a little break from all the hoopla, and just sit back and take in the magic of Christmas.

clip_image001

The Capitol Christmas tree in Washington , D.C. , is decorated with 3,000 ornaments that are the handiwork of U.S. schoolchildren. Encircling evergreens in the ‘Pathway of Peace’ represent the 50 U.S. states.

clip_image002

The world’s largest Christmas tree display rises up the slopes of Monte Ingino outside of Gubbio, in Italy ‘s Umbria region. Composed of about 500 lights connected by 40,000 feet of wire, the ‘tree’ is a modern marvel for an ancient city

clip_image003

A Christmas tree befitting Tokyo ‘s night-time neon display is projected onto the exterior of the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka.

clip_image004

Illuminating the Gothic facades of Prague’s Old Town Square, and casting its glow over the manger display of the famous Christmas market, is a grand tree cut in the Sumava mountains in the southern Czech Republic.

clip_image005

Venice ‘s Murano Island renowned throughout the world for its quality glasswork is home to the tallest glass tree in the world. Sculpted by master glass blower Simone Cenedese, the artistic Christmas tree is a modern reflection of the holiday season.

clip_image006

Moscow celebrates Christmas according to the Russian Orthodox calendar on Jan. 7. For weeks beforehand, the city is alive with festivities in anticipation of Father Frost’s arrival on his magical troika with the Snow Maiden. He and his helper deliver gifts under the New Year tree, or yolka, which is traditionally a fir.

clip_image007

The largest Christmas tree in Europe (more than 230 feet tall) can be found in the Praca do Comercio in Lisbon , Portugal . Thousands of lights adorn the tree, adding to the special enchantment of the city during the holiday season.

clip_image008

‘Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree’: Even in its humblest attire, aglow beside a tiny chapel in Germany ‘s Karwendel mountains, a Christmas tree is a wondrous sight.

clip_image009

Ooh la la Galeries Lafayette! In Paris , even the Christmas trees are chic. With its monumental, baroque dome, plus 10 stories of lights and high fashion, it’s no surprise this show-stopping department store draws more visitors than the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower

clip_image010

In addition to the Vatican ‘s heavenly evergreen, St. Peter’s Square in Rome hosts a larger-than-life nativity scene in front of the obelisk.

clip_image011

The Christmas tree that greets revelers at the Puerta del Sol is dressed for a party. Madrid ‘s two-week celebration makes millionaires along with merrymakers. On Dec. 22, a lucky citizen will win El Gordo (the fat one), the world’s biggest lottery.

A token of gratitude for Britain ‘s aid during World War II, the Christmas tree in London ‘s Trafalgar Square has been the annual gift of the people of Norway since 1947.

Deep sigh. Ok, 10 more days!!!  Back to panic mode.  Gotta go!!!

Christmas Inspiration Day 6: Shopping at West Elm

Wednesday night was the annual shopping event held at West Elm and  sponsored by Style at Home Magazine.  And once again, it was a fabulous night of shopping and networking with other design bloggers.  I brought a client/friend of mine and trust me we shopped till we dropped!!

Unfortunately I didn’t get to take any pictures because one hand was holding a glass of wine while the other was juggling an assortment of amazing home accessories from West Elm!!

So instead I thought I would show you some of the items we purchased yesterday along with some cool Christmas decorations you can purchase at the store or online.  Thankfully they ship right across Canada!!

image

Adorable nutcrackers and elves.

image

Love these double glass ornaments!!

image

If I wasn’t going all glitz and glamour this year again, I would definitely go with this natural, woodsy theme!

image

I have a bird fetish which you will see when I reveal my all white glamour Christmas tree….sadly I missed these yesterday or I would have picked up a few of these beautiful white feathered birds.

image

I bought some of these  above and these below for client gifts

image

And you can’t forget about their iconic white lacquered trays!!  Or in any other colour you desire!!

image

Under my guidance my client purchased the following:

image

Tall Butler tray stand with the large lacquered metallic silver tray for her dining room.  It will look stunning!!

image

She also purchased this adorable silver hexagon side table for her family room.  She has one lone occasional chair that is screaming for a small table where guests can set a drink on. This one is perfect!!

So it will look something like this in the end:

image

We both also bought some of these fun bowls…..just because they were so cheerful looking!  They can be used in the kitchen or in an office to hold paperclips, etc.

image

West Elm is one of my most favourite decor stores to pick up affordable home accessories for clients and for myself!!  If you haven’t been on their website  or store, then you must do so STAT!!

Happy Shopping!!

Glamorously yours,

Christine xoxo

Christmas Inspiration Day 5: A glimpse into my Christmas decorating theme

Believe it or not, I’m still not 100% finished decorating my home even though I started at the end of November!!  And I won’t be getting my real tree until this weekend.  But in the meantime, I though I would show you how I have incorporated my Purple passion Christmas theme into my home so far!!

If you know me well, then you know how much I love wine.  So it only makes sense that my dining room table centrepiece is made out of full length wine staves from the barrel.  And its the perfect vessel to display my ornaments.

IMG_6977

IMG_6987

I’m really pleased how my purple ornaments in varying sizes along with my purple table runner look on my dining room table. It’s very dramatic and glamorous flanked by my mirrored candelabras.

IMG_6979

IMG_6980

My Lucite reindeer and snowballs are on prominent display on my sideboard, alongside my mother’s silver tea/coffee set that she gave me so it has a lot of sentimental value (BTW: it needs a good polishing)

IMG_6984

These snowballs are just Styrofoam balls with fake snow glued all over…..what an easy DIY project.  I actually found these at the Dollar Store and thought they were fabulous!!  And a great deal!!

IMG_6985

IMG_6986

On my other sideboard, I added a very glamorous mirrored tray to house my bar accessories.  Love my glittery nutcracker hidden among the martini utensils and wine decanter.

IMG_6988

My purple theme will flow into the family room with the real tree as the focal point – once my hubby chops it down this weekend.  So right now all I have decorated is the mantel and a side console table.  The fireplace is not finished because I haven’t hung the stockings yet.  I bought some really gorgeous purple peacock feathered stockings at the end of the season last year so I am looking forward to putting them up.  They will go perfectly with my purple & green peacock feathered trees.

IMG_6991

That’s a purple fur throw in the brown basket by the fireplace.

Here’s a close up of my feathered trees….aren’t they stunning???

IMG_6994

I love symmetry as you can see by the way I displayed my candle holders and trees on the mantle.  Once the room is finished I will put up new pictures so you can see the final result.

IMG_6999

And of course, we need more sparkle with my sparkly purple cones by the hearth.  Christmas is definitely the time to go overboard with lots of sparkle, glitz and glamour!!!

IMG_6992

One of the accent colours to go with my purple theme is orange and bronze…and I showcase this colour scheme with an assortment of ornaments in these colours.  I found these adorable and very glam deer and the tiny nutcracker at Bouclair.  My 2 daughters love the glittery purple deer.

IMG_6995

Here’s a better look! Have you noticed the feather theme going on here!! Feathers are very hot this season in ornaments.

IMG_6996

Next week I will show you my purple tree in all its glory, the foyer AND my white glamour tree that resides in front of the living room window for all to see!.  Yes, every year I have 2 trees!

Well I hope you enjoyed a peek into my Christmas decor, and that I was able to inspire your own Christmas decorating in some way.

Leave me a comment and tell me how you are decorating you home for Christmas this year.

Glamorously yours,

Christine xoxo

Christmas Inspiration Day 4 – Toy Watch Gift Idea

Struggling with a Christmas gift idea….well here’s one you may love for someone special or for yourself!!!

I fell in love with the Toy Watch brand of watches last spring when I saw it on one of my girlfriends’ wrist.  And voila, for Mother’s Day I had this little charmer on my arm!!

I blogged about it in one of my “Decorate as you Dress” posts last spring here.

Well, now it’s time (I think) for a black Toy Watch …..and this is the baby that I have put on my Santa list!!  It has lots of sparkle and glam….exactly what I love in my fashion accessories and in my home decor accessories.

image

Or maybe this one……What do you think?

These watches are so much fun….and I promise, you will get a ton of compliments on your new watch….So if you are struggling on what to tell your significant other what  to get you…..you may want to consider a fun, sassy Toy Watch.  Or better yet give it to a fashionable young lady….she’ll love you for it!!

Happy Shopping!!!

Glamorously yours,

Christine xoxo

P.S. You should have read this blog post yesterday….but I got carried away Christmas shopping and forgot to press publish!!  So you may receive  2 posts in one day!! Ciao for now!! Embarrassed smile

Christmas Inspiration Day 3: All White Christmas Decor

I have always been intrigued by creating an all-white Christmas theme….and after seeing these magnificent pictures, I definitely intend on doing it one of these years.

So if an all-white Christmas theme is something you would like to do this season, then here are some pretty pictures to inspire you!!
